Planning, choosing, and installing kitchen cabinet hardware

Installing kitchen cabinet hardware was the most impactful home project we’ve done to date. It took a whole year for us to get to, but made us appreciate it that much more!

Before
After

I went with two different finishes and styles of pulls and knobs from Signature Hardware. I had originally been eyeing a set from Rejuvenation but I wasn’t 100% sold, which is why it took so long for me to make a decision. I’m so glad I waited! I’ve learned that it’s best for me not to rush when it comes to home design and decor. I usually end up waiting months to make certain purchases to really make sure I’m in love.

On our main cabinetry, I wanted something that accentuated the tall doors and felt elegant. The Padilla line was just the right amount of polished and pretty. I love the long oval knobs and the smooth pulls.

The dark island needed something fun and bold. The antique brass complements the wood tone so nicely. The La Rocca knobs remind me of an old dresser and the detail is gorgeous. For the pulls, I wanted something a bit more substantial, less dainty. The garbage drawer was such a PAIN to open before. We had to struggle to pull on both sides of the drawer which is not ideal when cooking. Adding the Klein handle was the biggest game changer and honestly the motivation behind getting to this project.

I knew I wanted solid brass that would last and the quality is incredible. Reid took on the challenge and borrowed a template tool to get measuring. Luckily, our doors pop right off the hinges and Reid is a perfectionist so after two weekends, the work was done! Now I need to decide if we should add knobs to the upper cabinets above the fridge… And then pick hardware for the rest of the cabinets in the house. 🤪
