Our bold and bright artwork adventure

We spent the last weekend of summer in Michigan for a friend’s wedding and had an amazing time! She was a college roommate of mine and we lived together again after college in Chicago, so it was a blast seeing all the old crew. It was a Sunday wedding and we arrived Friday, which gave us most of the day Saturday to do something fun.

Quick backstory is that Reid had promised me years ago we would go to Saugatuck (we were still dating) and it turned out to be a coverup plan for his proposal. That’s nice and all, but I still wanted to go to the little beach town! 😂 So I took advantage and we drove to Saugatuck with a friend for brunch and explored. The weather was perfect for late summer / early fall.

One of the boutiques with trendy apparel and baubles also had some artwork for sale on the walls. I saw these two beautiful acrylic oil paintings and couldn’t believe their prices. It was one of those “this is exactly what I’ve been looking for” moments and they were even framed. We returned to the store four times before finally purchasing.

The next challenge was actually getting the pieces home on our flight since we didn’t want to pay for the $600+ shipping. Reid had the great idea to wrap them in TV moving boxes we grabbed from Home Depot and because of the dimensions, we were only charged the price of a regular suitcase to check the box. Less than $100 for the packing supplies and shipping!

We had been looking for a bold and bright piece so this pair was the perfect find. They add so much color and texture to the dining room. This was a fun story we will never forget.
